Buckingham RC Dressage on Sunday 17th July 2011 at Milton Keynes Open and Riders Qualifiers

It was a small band of Stoneleigh Riders that competed at Milton Keynes EC. The following teams were entered:

It was my first visit to MKEC and my journey down proved very straight forward. The arenas were flat but not very level, doing medium canter strides downhill proved interesting for some.

It was a pity that there were some clubs missing, too far to travel perhaps, but the competition was no less fierce as this was the Open/Riders Teams Qualifier for Lincoln.

Stoneleigh Riders Elm were placed 1st and our Pairs Team also won their section therefore both Qualify for Lincoln.

It was touch and go for the Open Teams with three teams on a possible 6 points. Unfortunately we missed out by 1 place and Stoneleigh Abbey were 3rd and Park team were 4th.

There were also numerous placings within teams and as individuals:

Riders Test 11:    Tracey Malka 1st and Laura Kennedy 3rd
Riders Test 13:    Sue Bullock 1st, Penny Boon 3rd - Pts Cathy Fenn 1st & Emily 2nd
Novice 20:           Tracey Malka 2nd and Anne Grindal 4th
Novice 24:           Anne Grindal 2nd and Penny Boon 5th
Novice 28:           Laura Kennedy 5th
Novice 34:           Sue Bullock 1st and Karen Bennett 5th
Elem 45:              Cathy Fenn 2nd, Emily Smith-Poacher 3rd –Pts - Anne Grindal 2nd

The competition was over by 1.00 pm, a very unusual occurrence, but Cathy and I got caught in a traffic jam on the M1, HGV broken down, but still home at a reasonable time.

Thanks to all riders who supported the Club and even borrowed horses to make sure we had complete teams.

Princethorpe Qualifier 19th June

Well the switch to Princethorpe from Offchurch did sort out the flies but the weather wasn’t as good! The club had entered the following teams.

 
I spent most of the day in the secretary’s tent so was unable to see any results but was delighted to hear that Novice Abbey team had won and therefore qualified for Lincoln. The Riders teams not to be outdone came 1st (Pine) and 3rd (Elm) and the Open Teams, 2nd (Beech) and 6th (Hazel). Penny and Emily again 1st in the Pairs. I’m lucky to have such dedicated riders who never let me down. Dressage at Cherwell Valley

The first Area 5 Dressage competition of 2011 has seen the club make a very successful start to the season. The following teams were entered:

Riders were very thankful that the proceeding two days had brought some desperately needed rain. The going was good. It was also sunny if not a little breezy. Stoneleigh Park were placed 1st and Oak placed 4th in the Riders teams. Stoneleigh Elm were placed 1st and Abbey 2nd - Novice (all ride Preliminary 12). Stoneleigh Hazel were placed 3rd and Beech were 5th in the Open section. The teams in this group were very close with one point covering the first 4 teams but after including the fourth rider and then collectives we ended up 3rd.

     Finally our Pairs Team of Penny and Emily came1st

Cherwell Valley always makes for an interesting competition although not always for the right reasons! Yesterday was no exception with a wrongly added up score sheet moving Vicky Milburn from 8th to 1st place. Obviously this had implications on the team placings, so Novice Elm moved from 4th to 1st and Novice Abbey to 2nd from 1st. Unfortunately Hinckley Dressage Group, originally placed 2nd had already made off with the 2nd place rosettes so we missed out!

Winter Dressage Qualifier at Moreton Morrell held on 6th February 2011

On Sunday 6th February at Moreton Morrell Stoneleigh riders rode for a Qualifying place at the Winter Dressage Championships at Hartpury in April.

The day didn't get off to a good start with several riders having problems with transport and lame horses but two full qualifying teams made the 11.00 o'clock deadline.

The other factor was the weather, high winds made for a few excitable horses but the extra implusion helped, well in my case anyway. All the horses behaved extremely well under the circumstances and the results were excellent.

Park Team Qualified but it was a close run thing with Rugby RC and the fourth riders position had to be taken into account before we took the top spot. Our Abbey team came 3rd, so a very good result out of 16 teams from other clubs.

Thanks to all riders who entered and hopefully the rest of the year will be as successful.
